Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious issue that affects millions of people across the world, regardless of age, background, or gender. It includes physical harm, emotional abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of mistreatment often driven by inequality and power imbalance. Many victims remain silent out of fear, shame, or lack of support, which allows the cycle of violence to continue.
The “Gender-Based Violence: Breaking the Silence” online event provides a safe space to learn, share, and raise awareness about GBV. Experts, counsellors, and advocates will discuss the different forms of gender-based violence, its warning signs, and the emotional and social effects it leaves behind. Participants will also learn about available support systems, legal rights, and practical ways to help survivors rebuild their confidence and lives.
silence protects abusers, not survivors. By attending, you will gain valuable knowledge on how to recognise abuse, offer help, and promote respect and equality in your community. It’s also a chance to connect with others who are working to end GBV and create safer environments for everyone.
